“Unpacking” is my approach to exploring the deeper or hidden meanings of Hebrew words. It’s a combination of gematria (Jewish numerology), letter meanings, grammar, and intuition.

Chasidut (חֲסִידוּת) piety, godliness, devoutness

Exercise in translating Talmud Avodah Zarah 20b.10

My direct translation: reverent diligence

8+60+10+4+6+400=488

4+8+8=20 (כ) or (יי)

2+0=2 (ב)

Chasidut (חֲסִידוּת), reverent diligence, is the essence of the cycles of turn and return that connect past, present and possible futures. It is the key that unlocks doors to new realms and realities connecting all the worlds on the path toward Tikkun Olam creating the future to come in this or our next lifetime(s). It is the Divine spark that leads the way and is the seed that becomes the tree.
