We’re back to Av… Moon of Endings & Beginnings and the soul trait of Courage
I just looked over what I had to say last year, and it’s unfortunately still relevant. BUT… in during this Moon of Endings & Beginnings I want to focus our courage somewhere else this year. Not on the fight, but on the future.
What are we building towards?
Walls will always go up and fall down. There will always be those we need to fight for and against.
We need courage for it all, but right now, in this moment, I think we need to rally our courage to think about what we’re building. And it is so hard right now to think about the world we want to cræft when it feels like (and we are) fighting for our lives.
Remember, I’m writing this from occupied Washington, DC where people just got arrested for TOUCHING the water in the Lincoln Reflecting Pool, the President is turning us into his fascist paradise, and the Pentagon has announced they are keeping the National Guard here until after the inauguration in 2029 even though the DC City Council has asked them to be removed.
May everyone will finally care when he destroys the cherry trees?
There’s a lot of fighting to do. But we need to share the vision of the future, not just be antagonists. We need to work as hard for that vision as we do in the fight against those trying to drag us back in time. If all we do is fight against, then we never thrive.
And that takes strength and courage.

I haven’t sent out any updates on this in a couple of months because finishing my first ever planner/journal needed to get finished (more on that below). But now that the planner is done, it’s back to the deck. I’ll be sharing the next card, the High Priestess, later in Av, so this is a great time to catch up on the project.

My First Tattoo
I almost didn’t share this, but thought I’d end on something fun and personal. I got a tattoo at 52! (hey that rhymes). And yeah, it’s my “first” tattoo. There will be more. I’ve wanted to do this for ages as my own take on “hedgewitch stars,” which in the book* are just blue 7-pointed stars. When I saw Dareum’s work, and that she was coming to DC for a guest spot and knew it was time.
*I actually like the show better than the books, especially the last couple of seasons, but love both.

Omg this made me articulate to myself something I knew but not consciously: I am a creative, not a fighter. There are people who are talented fighters., let them have at it. No wonder my energy flees when thinking of fighting all the dreck. I can’t see a role for myself in fighting, but as building? Im all over that. Thank you for helping me clarify.
